CSU the central and official provider of careers support services to higher education
CSU is higher education’s official provider of postgraduate taught course and research opportunity information, a role which was granted as a direct result of the 1996 HEFCE/CVCP/SCOP Review of Postgraduate Education (http://www.niss.ac.uk/education/hefce/pub96/m14_96.html) chaired by Professor Sir Martin Harris. The Review recommended that Prospects Postgraduate Directory should be developed to provide comprehensive information about all UK postgraduate study opportunities in a standardised format for use by students, employers and funders. Collection and Publication of Data Data is collected from institutions twice per year between January and April and October and December. The results of the data collection are published annually in Prospects Postgraduate Directory - which enjoys a worldwide distribution network - and are output throughout the year on Prospects Web which last year received an average of 180,000 page accesses per week. New courses are published in a special section of the March edition of Prospects Postgrad Magazine. Information about taught courses and research opportunities is provided by one or two contacts at each institution who co-ordinate the internal data collection. If you would like to know who the data compiler is for your institution then email prospects-pgdata@csu.ac.uk. What data is collected? Data is collected about each study opportunity in the following information categories devised by higher education practitioners.
